ITINERARY:

Day 1: DEPART U.S.A.

Day 2: ARRIVAL TO ROME
Orientation tour of the city. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

Day 3: ROME – MAJOR BASILLICAS
We will begin our tour of the Eternal City of Rome with visiting St Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world and built on the site where St. Peter was martyred. Unsurpassed in beauty, importance and history, pilgrims from around the world are welcome to the most grandiose, sacred church in the world. View historical treasures such as a piece of the true cross, the lance that pierced Christ’s side and numerous papal tombs. We will tour other three major Basilicas: St Mary Major, this is one of the oldest shrines dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, after she appeared to Pope Liberius in 358 requesting a church be built in her honor. This shrine contains a relic from the manger where the infant Jesus was laid. The Basilica of the St John in Lateran, the former residence of all the popes prior to their return to Rome in 1377. Five ecumenical councils were held in this cathedral housing the remains of 4 saints. St Paul Outside the Walls, which houses the remains of St. Paul under the main altar. Many relics are displayed, along with the chains that once bound the apostle while a prisoner in Rome. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

Day 4: ROME – HISTORICAL ROME
After breakfast drive to Rome, the Eternal City, and hub of ancient civilized world. Tour continues to Piazza Venezia, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Roman Forum, and the Coliseum. Then, by way of the Circus reach the top of the Janiculum Hill to enjoy a full view of Rome and It’s Seven Hills. Optional evening excursion of “Rome by Night”. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

Day 5: PAPAL AUDIENCDE – ASSISI
After breakfast depart for Papal Audience (depending upon availability) in the monumental St. Peter’s Square and see the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City. Afternoon drive to Assisi, the home of St. Francis and St. Clare. Visit the Basilica of St. Francis, the church of St. Clare, and the Basilica of St. Mary. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.

Day 6: ASSISI – FLORENCE
After breakfast, depart for Florence. Visit the highlights of Florence; Doumo, Bell Tower, the Baptistery. See the tombs of Dante, Michelangelo, Leonardo de Vinci and the magnificent statue of David. Afternoon optional trip to Pisa to view the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. Dinner and overnight in Florence.

Day 7: FLORENCE – VENICE
After breakfast, depart for Venice. Visit the Basilica of St. Mark, Doge’s Palace, and the Bridge of Sighs. If time permits, enjoy a gondola ride on the canals. Dinner and overnight in Venice.

Day 8: VENICE – MILAN
After breakfast drive to Milan, Italy. Visit the magnificent Gothic Duomo, glass-domed Galaria and the famous Scala Opera House. Take part of an optional performance at La Scala Opera in the evening. Dinner and overnight in Milan.

Day 9: MILAN – USA
Transfer to airport for your return flight to USA.
